サロン・ドートンヌ展の出品作を紹介します
サロン・ドートンヌとは、120年以上の歴史を有するフランス、パリのサロン（美術展覧会）です。20世紀初頭、世界の美術の中心地であったパリにおいて当時のアカデミックな官立サロンに対抗して、新しい自由な表現を目指して幾つかの私立サロンが結成されました。その代表的なサロンが、サロン・ドートンヌです。
このサロンから、20世紀美術の様々な革新的な表現が生まれます。それがフォービズム（野獣派）であり、キュビズム（立体派）です。また、このサロンはエコール・ド・パリの作家たちの活躍の場になりました。主な出品作家の名前を挙げると、マティス、ブラマンク、ピカソ、ブラック、モジリアニ、シャガール、カンディンスキー、マイヨール、ブランクーシ、そしてデュシャン、ル・コルビュジエなど、世界の美術史を築いた多彩な作家たちが参加して来ました。
日本人で世界の美術史に名前を残した藤田嗣治も、このサロンに出品した作品によってエコール・ド・パリの代表的作家の一員となりました。その作品は今、パリ市立美術館で観ることが出来ます。
近年は日本を含め幾つかの国の団体ブースが設けられて国際交流の場ともなっています。 それとは別な一般展示ではフランス人、外国人ともに公平で厳正な審査基準によって入選が決められています。世界でも最も入選が困難なサロンと言われる所以でもあります。また、すべての入選作は同等のものであるとの考えから、ドートンヌとしての賞は設けられていません。ここにも官立サロンに対する反骨精神が生きているような気がします。ただ、ドートンヌ友の会やギャラリーに選ばれる幾つかの賞はあります。
私はそのようなドートンヌの創造的精神に魅力を感じて、彫刻を出品するようになりました。多くの創造的作家を生み出したドートンヌですが、現在も美術好きなパリっ子たちに愛されるサロンとして、その営みを続けています。美術が商業主義の流れに巻き込まれる今、サロン・ドートンヌはいっそう貴重な存在に成ると思われます。

Salon d'Automne is a salon (art exhibition) in Paris, France with a history of over 120 years. At the beginning of the 20th century, in Paris, the center of art in the world, several private salons were formed to compete with the academic, government-run salons of the time, aiming for a new and free form of expression. The representative salon was Salon d'Automne.
From this salon comes various innovative expressions of 20th century art of Fauvism and Cubism. And,The salon has also become a place of activity for the artists of the École de Paris. Among the main exhibitors this Salon are Matisse, Vlaminck, Picasso, Braque, Modigliani, Chagall, Kandinsky, Maillol, Brancusi, Duchamp, Le Corbusier, and many other artists who have created world art history.
Tsuguharu Foujita, a Japanese artist who left his name in world art history, became one of the representative artists of the École de Paris through the works exhibited at this salon. The work can now be seen at the Musée de la Ville de Paris.
In recent years, it has become a place for international exchange, with booths set up by groups from several countries, including Japan. For the general exhibition, both French and foreigners are selected based on fair and strict judging standards. It is also the reason why it is said to be the most difficult salon to be selected in the world. Also, since all selected works are considered to be equal, there is no award for d'Automne. I feel that the spirit of rebellion against government salons is alive here as well. However, there are some awards chosen by the Friends of d'Automne and the Galleries.
I was fascinated by this creative spirit of d'Automne and started to exhibit sculptures. d'Automne has produced many creative artists, and continues to operate today as a salon loved by art-loving Parisians. Today, when art is caught up in the flow of commercialism, it seems that d'Automne will become an even more valuable existence.
